Mathematics Lab

Faculty In charge – Ms. Viditi Rastogi

The Math Lab having Mathematical Instructional Resources can create mathematical learning environments, where a whole range of processes take precedence like formal problem solving, use of heuristics, estimation and approximation, optimisation, use of patterns, visualization, representation, reasoning and proof, making connections, mathematical communication. By the use of these Instructional Resources we can offer mathematics education of the very highest quality to all children.

The Mathematics Instructional Resources can make mathematics activity-oriented, Children can see mathematics as something to talk about, to communicate, to discuss among them, to work together on, can make mathematics a part of children’s life experience.

Our approach to use Mathematics Lab involves such situations in which Children learn to enjoy Mathematics and teacher teach to enjoy Mathematics, Children learn important mathematics and teacher teach important Mathematics, Mathematics can be a part of children’s life experience which they can talk about, Children can pose and solve meaningful problems, Children can use abstractions to perceive relationships and structure, Children can understand the basic structure of Mathematics and every child in class can be engaged.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To train prospective teachers so that they can prepare themselves and their students for the challenges they face further in life.
  2. To emphasis the construction of New knowledge by students’ experience and prior knowledge about conceptual elements.
  3. To link formal mathematics with experiential learning
  4. To make understand the prospective teachers the difference between doing mathematics and swallowing mathematics, between mathematisation of thinking and memorizing formulas, between trivial mathematics and important mathematics, between working towards the narrow aims and addressing the higher aims.
